Presentation
Every day in the world, thousands of children are dependent on their place of birth. Condemned from a very young age due to lack of access to medical care, La Chaîne de l'Espoir has been working to help them since 1994.
Through various areas of intervention, focused on the child but also on mothers, it intervenes in 27 countries to offer everyone the same chances of survival and development. What does it do? To prevent and detect, to treat and operate, to train and transmit, to build and equip.
State of emergency in India
India is currently the main country affected by the Covid-19 epidemic. More than 400,000 people are infected every day. A situation that has spiralled out of control, plunging many families into immense distress... To help them, we need your help!
Rajasthan hit hard by Covid-19
In the north of the country is Rajasthan. There, there are nearly 20,000 new patients a day. In this state, whose population is equivalent to that of France, the second wave is taking its toll and the hospitals are overwhelmed. This is why, more than ever, we continue to work with the local association Tabaar, with whom we have been partners for several years. In Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, we have also set up a mobile clinic. The aim of this medical van? To provide basic health care to more than 900 families in the city's five slums.
More than 900 families face increasing distress
But this is no longer enough. As the situation worsens, the distress of the families increases. Because in these neighbourhoods, the majority of workers are day labourers. In the morning, in order to have a chance to buy food in the evening, they go in search of a short-lived job that will only last for a day. Already precarious living conditions have been worsened by the pandemic. Now jobless and des titute due to the confinement, the people of Jaipur are running out of everything, especially food. Added to this despair is the fear of being infected by Covid-19.
