1% for the Planet

Environment

1% for the Planet is a worldwide movement led by companies who have decided to donate 1% of their sales to environmental associations. Over 2,500 companies are members of this movement.

The collective connects philanthropists and companies with associations carrying out projects, effectively increasing donations for the environment.

The non-profit organization was created in 2002 by Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard and former Blue Ribbon Flies owner Craig Mathews.

As philanthropists themselves, they have donated over 1% of their sales through their respective companies. Their aim in creating this collective is to bring philanthropic companies together, with an easily recognizable label and a simple message: 1% for the planet.

To date, 1% for the Planet has over 6,000 members in 91 countries, and has raised over $350 million for environmental charities.
